Bake It! Club July – Lemon Sqaures

Mmmm...eat me!

Wooooo I'm so excited I found this Bake It! Club - it's just my thing (as you may have gathered by now!). It gives me another excuse to do some fabulous baking. The Bake It! Club is hosted by the lovely Amylane over at Cooking, Cakes & Children. Every month she gives us a new recipe to make, then we all share our pics and our experiences with it. Fab idea! I am really looking forward to all the recipe challenges as it will probably be things I would never have thought about making … [Read more...]

“Why I Want a….” Writing Workshop

smart phone

So it is Week 2 of The Writing Workshop over at Sleep is for the Weak! I am choosing Prompt 2 for this week: “Why I want a ………..” Why I Want A Smartphone! I have never been particularly bothered about technology before and having the "latest" phone. I just have a basic mobile - I think it has a few games on it but I don't use it for anything other than texting & phoning! My boyfriend, Gary on the other hand is obsessed with the latest gadgets and has a monstrosity of … [Read more...]

The Gallery – Nature

flower & bee

My first ever entry for The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers. I'm getting quite good at this taking part thing, aren't I?! The theme this week is Nature and there is a prize up for grabs for the best entry so it looks like I'm joining in on the right week! The following photo signifies what nature means for me in a very special way. It is no secret that I struggle with anxiety and depression. I am beginning to feel a lot better now but the start of this year was a very difficult time for me. I … [Read more...]

Malteser & Aero Cake – My Big Bakeoff Entry!

bowls (Small)

Phew! I've just sampled the first slice of my entry for English Mum's Big Bakeoff competition and my head has gone all "funny" - extreme sugar high I think! I had noticed entries flying in for this Bakeoff via Twitter but had never actually considered entering. I love baking, but I'm not necessarily particularly good at it if you know what I mean?! I just never thought I would be good enough or brave enough to enter a baking competition. But then I thought, "Why the heck not?" It's not … [Read more...]

Peanut Butter Cookies & Rapeseed Oil Cake

cake (Small)

Yesterday's baking adventure was the totally yummy Rapeseed Oil Lemon & Almond Cake. You can find the recipe over at the lovely English Mum's site. Here is a pic of how my cake turned out: So, spurred on by my success yesterday, I decided that I fancied baking again today! Why not - it's the weekend. Plus Gary is starting a healthy eating diet tomorrow so might as well get all the tasty (ie.bad) stuff out of the way before then! I decided on peanut butter cookies. I haven't had … [Read more...]

Mummy’s little angel (ahem!)

At last - I have been able to find a plugin to make displaying all my photos of Chester the pup a lot easier to view (I'm not great at techie things so it did take me a while lol...)! He has been coming on in leaps and bounds (quite literally), getting into lots of mischief but being very lovable with it. I'm not going to lie and say it's all been rosy - I have had quite a few tears just because I've been so frustrated when he doesn't behave as we would like. But he is only a very young puppy … [Read more...]

Memories of my Childhood

Okay so I have decided to take the plunge and join in Josie's Writing Workshop. I have seen entries floating around the blogosphere before and was intrigued as to what it all was about. I am, by no means, a good writer (yet!) so please bear with me! I am going to try to take part every week, and see if I can improve my writing skills. I decided to choose prompt 4 - Memories of my Childhood. Here goes... ...It ws a warm summer's day and I was sprawled out ontop of the oil tank in our back … [Read more...]

10 Things You Need to Know Before You Get Your New Puppy!

Don't Worry I'm Jumping Out of Your Flower Beds Before You Can Tell Me Off!

1. Buy lots of kitchen roll - then whatever you have bought go out and buy twice as much again. Seriously. You will need a lot to wipe up all the puppy accidents. 2. No matter what the puppy books tell you - it is NOT enough to take your puppy out every hour to go to the toilet. Often they won't go, then as soon as you bring them back into the house - toilet time! Cue more kitchen roll! It is basically out to the toilet after waking up, after eating, after playing - every 20  minutes or so … [Read more...]

My Elevator Pitch (or Lift Pitch for UK!)

Well I decided to take part in the ProBlogger Summer Challenge 31 Days to Build a Better Blog.  I reckon I need all the help I can get as I'm just starting out with my blog. Today's task was to write an elevator pitch for your blog explaining what it is all about.  So here goes... ...Welcome to my notebook! My house generally resembles feeding time at the zoo with 3 cats always in attendance (plus possibly 2 more from the neighbourhood) and not forgetting our new hyperactive puppy.  I … [Read more...]

Puppy’s 1st couple of days in pics…!

new puppy comes home

I was tired after my journey to my new home (45 minutes in some thing called a car!).  I didn't want to come out of my carrier as I had a blanket that smelt of my mummy & littermates.  Well, it did smell of them until I peed on it, and my new mummy had to wash it! . . . . . Me and my new Mummy Me with my new Daddy . I then met my new parents properly - they seem quite nice, I think I'll be able to wrap them round my little claws. . . . . . Fun in the garden … [Read more...]
