Flying Solo

I've been all on my own today (apart from the animals) which is quite strange as Gary & I normally spend all day, every day together. And yes we do fight a lot because of this lol.. ;) We were up at 5am today as Gary was going over to N.Ireland mountain biking in the Mourne Mountains with his mates. He drove to the airport and I drove Pierre (our car) home. This is a HUGE feat as I haven't really driven in about 2 years - usually the mere thought of it brings me out in a panic. But I did … [Read more...]

The Cheshire Show

Yesterday we headed to The Cheshire Show. Well we just about got there as we had a mad panic as we couldn't find our tickets. They were finally found in the bin - ooops! We enjoyed it until the rain started! And we had some fun spotting all the well-to-do country types who were all be-decked out in their tweed outfits and feathered hats... (apologies to you if this is your normal attire). We took the dogs with us, and they weren't too badly behaved but our hands were sore from trying to … [Read more...]

Blog Camp Manchester

Sooo I went to Blog Camp in Manchester on Friday. After getting up uber-early (6am yuk) to make sure I was ready in time, I just about got the train (30 secs later & I would have missed it!). As the train pulled up in Manchester I felt rather sick with nerves - even more so when I realised the train arrived 10 mins later than it was meant to and it was now 9.58 with the event starting at 10! Luckily the venue was just outside the train station so I tumbled through the doors just in … [Read more...]

Elton To The Rescue

I was having a really blah day yesterday. I was thinking too much about things and getting myself really down. And yes there may have been tears involved. Usually when I get like this, I retire to bed and try to pretend the world doesn't exist. However yesterday I decided to try something different. I put Elton John's Greatest Hits CD on very loud and pottered about my bedroom tidying and sorting out clothes. I love a bit of Elton! It really helped to lift my spirits. I was so energised I … [Read more...]

Holly’s Op

My little Holly pup went into the vets to get spayed on Monday. I was worried about her all day and felt awful for her when we were able to collect her at 4pm... She was still so drowsy she couldn't walk. When Chester went in to get neutered he was a lot brighter after the anesthetic. She was so pathetic looking on Monday evening. It made me think that she might be like this in the future when she is old etc... it was a horrible feeling. Just slumped against the door. With nasty cone … [Read more...]

Millionaire’s Shortbread

I think there has been a distinct lack of baked goodies on this blog recently haha so to remedy this here is what I baked at the weekend. Gary had been craving Millionaire's Shortbread (or caramel squares as we call them) for ages. I offered to make him some but he declined as he only wanted to eat one and not a whole tray full! I had tried to make them ages ago but the caramel was too pale & runny. However, I decided to over-rule him and make some anyway! I used a different recipe this … [Read more...]

Co. Durham Dog Display

Last weekend we were in Co Durham doing a 2 day dog display. I was v nervous about camping as I am not a big fan of being without my home comforts lol.. Our tent did look cosy though: We were really lucky with the weather as well. We had a couple of hours rain on Sunday morning, but other than that it was dry. I really don't know how I would have coped if we had to do the displays in the pouring rain (we don't even get to wear waterproofs!). It was a fun weekend. They had pig racing … [Read more...]
