Last Sunday night we got word that Gary’s dad had had a heart attack, had stopped breathing for 12 minutes & was on a life support machine in hospital. Bam.
Gary hadn’t spoken to his dad for a variety of reasons for about 10 years but obviously it was still a shock. We headed up to Scotland to see him on the Monday after hearing he had had 3 more heart attacks within 12 hours. Double bam.
He was very unstable for a few days, but Gary did see him improving a little before we had to head back home. He is now improving in leaps and bounds, and is a very lucky man.
I guess the moral of this story is that your family is still your family no matter what has happened in the past. It is too easy to let silly arguments grow into massive rifts. We are going back up to see Gary’s dad in a couple of weeks once he gets a bit stronger and Gary is going to be more involved in his life now. I guess that’s a happy ending. Life is too short for playing silly games. Sometimes it takes something like this to happen for people to realise how much someone means to them.
This is Gary’s dad’s 9 month old chocolate lab, Maisie. She loved running on the beach with Chester & Holly!

omg that's awful, so sorry to hear that. Hope he's still improving though and that everything can be sorted out and put behind them now.
Oh my. I hope he continues to get stronger and that it'll be a new start for Gary and his family. Hard times indeed! x
Oh dear – that sounds so difficult. I will keep you all in my thoughts x
Oh goodness, so sorry to hear your news but very happy to see there has been a positive outcome for you all x
And you are so right, life is too short. As a friend said to me you never know what is round the corner. x
