I really enjoyed all the festivities over the Jubilee Bank Holiday, which mainly involved eating lots of cake!
Sarah hosted a lovely afternoon tea party for us on the Sunday and we watched the Floatilla on TV.
On Monday, we went to the Great British Food Festival in Warrington. There were lots of nice food stands, some giving away free samples (mmmm Cheshire Cheese!). There was a victoria sponge competition and after the cakes were judged the public were invited to try all the cakes! Of course, we were hanging round for this opportunity haha and we all filled up on cake.
There were also some lovely looking cupcake stands, including one with all cupcakes for £1. They were impressive looking and at that price I had to try one. I had a strawberry one but I was disappointed to discover that the fresh strawberry on top was the nicest bit of the cupcake
. Hate it when that happens. Maybe I should have gone to the stall selling them for £1.50…?!
After the food festival we headed to my new favourite place – Daresbury Dairy Ice Cream Farm. We just discovered this place recently and the ice cream is fabulous! Mmm… I had banoffee flavour.
Next up, was a trip to The Hatton Arms for a drink in the beer garden and a look in the famous telephone box outside which is filled with books. I presume you can borrow these books and replace them with others you have already read but there were no signs up… I would love to know!
Lastly, as it was a nice day we packed the pups off to Delamere Forest for a lovely walk.
Had a fabulous time – best couple of days in ages!
Thanks to all my lovely friends for making it fun!

PS – Of course I made some jubilee-esque bakes:
Red Velvet Cupcakes
Strawberry Cupcakes & Lemon & Yogurt Cake
