Introducing Baby Holly!

Yes, we are mad! We are getting another puppy! :) It will be Chester's true sister as it's from the same mum & dad as him. We went to see the pups for the first time on Sunday and they were all soooo cute! They were born on December 1st and have just started to open their eyes awwwww. There were 7 boys and 3 girls - we knew we wanted a girl, so we just had to pick which one! We chose this little cutie - and we're going to call her Holly (cos she was born in December lol)! And … [Read more...]

Feeling Broody…

....Over the last few weeks I have been increasingly broody. Not for a baby (hell, no) but for another new addition to the family. A kitten. Yes - another cat. That would bring our total to 4 permanent live-in cats plus 2 pop-in for food cats. I know, I know - I'm sad. I just love little furry cute bundles of fluff. We had 4 boxes of cat food that our cats turned their snooty noses up at - so we decided to give them to a cat charity. I knew that if I went to look at any baby kittens in need … [Read more...]

Chunky Chester…!

We were told last night at Puppy Class that Chester the pup is getting a bit on the heavy side! "He's got a bit of a belly on him" were the exact words I think lol..! So, we need to cut down his food a little bit. He can't be taken out for any more walks as he's only allowed a 5 minute walk per month of age (so just over 15 minutes) per day. Totally not enough for him, so will have to give him lots more play time as well!! We also have got him a Kong Activity Ball which we put his dry food in - … [Read more...]

Don’t Forget About Us!

I realised that I have never introduced you to my 3 wonderful cats. Jess had a brief appearance in yesterday's Liver Cake post but they deserve so much more webtime than this! I have been worried that they have been feeling very left out since Chester the pup has arrived. They certainly haven't been getting as much attention and their cat flap has had to be locked so they don't come into the conservatory where Chester sleeps at night. They are mainly confined to upstairs and when they do … [Read more...]

Liver Cake!

Now, this is a first - me making a cake that's not for me to eat lol...! Well, actually Gary was very good and made this yummy (?!) concoction as I'm a vegetarian and couldn't stand the thought of handling raw liver (plus the smell...ugh!). The liver cake is for our young pup Chester! We had been buying him all varieties of generic puppy treats from the pet shops but, as he has been very hyper and snappy recently I was worried that there were all sorts of nasty additives in the treats that … [Read more...]

Puppy Class & Beyond!

Week 1 of Puppy Class was (ahem) fun..? Despite saying we wanted to get there early, we were one of the last ones there, and poor wee Chester peed himself as soon as he saw all the other dogs! There were about 6 other dogs there, ranging from 2 titchy Chihuahuas to 2 big muscly Japanese Akitas! Chester hid under our chairs for the first 15 minutes or so of the class and cried and yelped every time another dog came near him. The vet nurse who was taking the class told us we just had to ignore … [Read more...]

The Gallery – Playtime

chester walk2 (Small)

Well it's my 2nd week taking part in The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers. This week the theme is "Playtime". I was originally going to use a picture of one of our cats. But, as today is the first day Chester the puppy has been allowed out into the big wide world after his injections I really wanted to capture this momentous occasion! We waited all day for the rain to stop, and finally got to go out at 4pm! We took him to a local nature reserve park which is only 5 mins away by car. He loves … [Read more...]

Peanut Butter Cookies & Rapeseed Oil Cake

cake (Small)

Yesterday's baking adventure was the totally yummy Rapeseed Oil Lemon & Almond Cake. You can find the recipe over at the lovely English Mum's site. Here is a pic of how my cake turned out: So, spurred on by my success yesterday, I decided that I fancied baking again today! Why not - it's the weekend. Plus Gary is starting a healthy eating diet tomorrow so might as well get all the tasty (ie.bad) stuff out of the way before then! I decided on peanut butter cookies. I haven't had … [Read more...]

Mummy’s little angel (ahem!)

At last - I have been able to find a plugin to make displaying all my photos of Chester the pup a lot easier to view (I'm not great at techie things so it did take me a while lol...)! He has been coming on in leaps and bounds (quite literally), getting into lots of mischief but being very lovable with it. I'm not going to lie and say it's all been rosy - I have had quite a few tears just because I've been so frustrated when he doesn't behave as we would like. But he is only a very young puppy … [Read more...]

10 Things You Need to Know Before You Get Your New Puppy!

Don't Worry I'm Jumping Out of Your Flower Beds Before You Can Tell Me Off!

1. Buy lots of kitchen roll - then whatever you have bought go out and buy twice as much again. Seriously. You will need a lot to wipe up all the puppy accidents. 2. No matter what the puppy books tell you - it is NOT enough to take your puppy out every hour to go to the toilet. Often they won't go, then as soon as you bring them back into the house - toilet time! Cue more kitchen roll! It is basically out to the toilet after waking up, after eating, after playing - every 20  minutes or so … [Read more...]
